Today I have added another two races to my agenda. In preparation for my big adventure in Suzdal in Russia, a 50k trail, I decided to add these two races to give my legs some more training.
Run2Day Velserbroekloop 2017 – 7 July
This race will take place on coming Friday in Velserbroek, a small town above Haarlem. I know this place from the youth period I have been living in Haarlem, so it will be fun to enjoy the surroundings I’m familiar with. It is a nice 10k race, and a good chance to try myself again in a field. My last 10k race was on 31 May in Wimbledon Clapham Park in London (UK). I did the 10,2k race in 59 minutes, so maybe this Friday I can improve that a little. Since it is still 2 weeks till my big race in Russia, I can give it all I have in my body and probably run a new PR on 10k distance.
Spartainfit Obstacle Run 2017 – 16 July
What can I say: Spartainfit is of course my team, so when there is a race organised by our team at our training location, I must be there. It is a bit of a late decision to enter up for the race, but I couldn’t let my teammates have all the fun by themselves. This is an 8k Obstacle Run, not really a race, but just to enjoy sports and train at the obstacles to get better. We will go over 50 obstacles along the track, some of them we use during our trainings, and some are absolutely new and made specially for this run. In 2016 we had the Spartainfit Marines run, which I ran together with my teammate Niels Monster and we had a good time. It was well-organised with great obstacles and a real rough terrain to run on. This will be a very good preparation run for my trail the week after.
